Road carrier’s liability insurance

ERGO’s Road Carrier’s Liability Insurance provides an opportunity to insure road carrier’s civil liability under the carriage of goods contract between the customer and road carrier.

ERGO’s Road Carrier’s Liability Insurance provides coverage for the claim filed against the road carrier under the carriage of goods contract between the customer and the road carrier. If goods are damaged or lost during transportation and the carrier incure liability for compensation of the loss or damage to the owner of the goods, then upon the existence of liability insurance the insurance company will cover the loss and damage according to the international CMR Convention.

If the carrier undertakes international trucking and is a member of the Association of Estonian International Road Carriers (ERAA), then it probably also operates in the TIR system and uses the TIR Carnets. ERAA requires a deposit for the issuance of the TIR Carnets. The deposit may also be made in the form of the truck carrier’s liability insurance provided that it covers TIR risks. The majority of the insurance contracts signed between ERGO and road carriers extend to include the carrier’s liability under the CMR and TIR Conventions. If the carrier has effected road carrier’s liability insurance, the owners of the goods may rest assured that they are using a reliable carrier who has made the required deposit with the ERAA.
