Security in society
As an insurer of people’s property, ERGO Kindlustus seeks to contribute to the development of Neighbourhood Watch and to growth in membership of the organisation MTÜ Eesti Naabrivalve. We are looking to generate greater awareness in society of how to increase the security of people’s homes and neighbourhoods and thus better protect their property. After all, our everyday sense of security starts at the grass roots level, meaning the security of our homes and the area we live in.
Since 2007 ERGO has been the major sponsor of the expansion of Neighbourhood Watch Estonia (a non-profit organisation) into Ida-Viru County, where the need for a coordinated system of this kind is among the greatest in Estonia. Prior to 2007 a sectors of Neighbourhood Watch had operated independently on people’s own initiative.
Neighbourhood Watch is currently represented in Estonia’s 14 towns and cities as well as in many of its smaller towns and villages. The organisation was founded locally in 2000 and its mission is to ensure the security of people’s homes and the surrounding environment.
In addition to supporting the development of the organisation, ERGO recognises those people who join Neighbourhood Watch – who look out for the security of the areas they live in and do their best to reduce any damage to property – by offering them special discounts on home insurance through flyers distributed by the organisation.
